Streamlining the UX within an existing mobile product.

This contract project was to redesign some of the UX that existed within an existing app, ensuring that it would seamlessly fit within the existing visual interface.
MyFitnessPal is a calorie-tracking and fitness app, with a very minimal UI that's focused on usability over visual style. The portion of the app that handled activity and exercise tracking was newer and a bit clunkier than the rest of the app at the time, and their team wanted to improve usability and polish the UI.
This was a trial project, so I didn't have access to much in the way of real user data, which is where I would typically begin to identify pain points. Instead, I based my suggestions for improvements on my own experience, and had a couple friends try to use the existing tool and give me their feedback, as a simple form of user testing.
What's shown here is my process for revising MyFitnessPal's existing UI, starting with a simple user flow, and some deliverables in the form of annotated mockups.
As a final step I turned these mockups into a simple interactive prototype to share with their team. This was a trial project and I don't believe these changes were ultimately implemented in the app, but they definitely made the exercise tracking process easier to use.
