Biometric Data Display
Core Meditation App
We needed to create a compelling and easy-to-understand summary of our users’ biometric data each time they completed a meditation. This was an interesting challenge, because the unique nature of meditation gave us an opportunity to explore unconventional designs -- but had some inherent tension with the nature and expectations of activity tracking.
Session History
Core Meditation App
In addition to seeing the results from their individual meditation sessions, Core app users needed some view of their activity over time. This was not only essential to making them feel a sense of accomplishment and encouraging them to stick with it -- it was also an opportunity to highlight relative change and improvement. This immediately begged the question: what should we highlight?
Home Screen UX
Core Meditation App
One of the guiding design principles of the Core app was to minimize the user’s time to immersion. For the user to build a consistent meditation habit, we believed that beginning a session should be frictionless: they should be able to just pick Core up and get started right away. We wanted the primary “Home” tab to allow this, but there were a few challenges facing us.
Groups
Core Meditation App
Early on, the founders of Core knew that they wanted the product to have a social layer: user testing revealed that people deeply enjoyed meditating together in a group, then sharing their biometric results. What "Groups" might mean within the context of the app, though, was very much open to debate. Eventually, we identified an effective MVP by focusing on a limited and well-defined set of user activities.
Asset Management Portal
ThisMoment "Content Cloud"
ThisMoment was a platform that allowed marketers to consolidate and manage different kinds of content for distribution to their social channels. The web-based interface for managing content needed an overhaul, and I functioned as the primary UI designer.
In-App lllustration Style
Core Meditation App
We needed simple illustrations to display in a number of different places in the app: for user guidance and troubleshooting, to convey some of the major content themes, and to anchor the user at certain points in an interative flow (i.e. successfully subscribing.) I came up with a very light and minimal visual style, relying mostly on the soft greys and blues of the brand palette, that I was able to reuse throughout the app.
Exercise Tracking Tool
MyFitnessPal
This contract project was to redesign some of the UX that existed within the MyFitnessPal app, ensuring that it would seamlessly fit within the already-existing visual interface.
